We're hiring a Head of Finance to be the operating core of our finance function: the person who builds the engine, runs the model, closes the books, and partners with the CEO and leadership team on the decisions that shape the next chapter of the brand.
 

The Role

You'll own the finance function end-to-end — FP&A, accounting, treasury, tax, and the systems and team that support all of it. You'll be the financial operating partner to the CEO, the cross-functional translator for marketing and supply chain, and the person who makes sure the numbers are right, on time, and decision-ready.

This is a role for someone who wants to ship work, not just direct it. The right person here is hands-on, opinionated, and excited to build the finance org from the ground up.

What you'll own: 

FP&A & Strategic Finance

  • Build and own the financial model — annual plan, quarterly forecast, weekly cash and inventory management
  • Partner with marketing on contribution margin, blended MER, payback period, and LTV/CAC by channel and cohort
  • Own SKU-level, channel-level, and customer-level unit economics
  • Translate finance into clear, actionable narratives for the CEO 

Cash, working capital & inventory

  • Manage the cash conversion cycle of an inventory-heavy DTC business — POs, in-transit inventory, AR/AP, 3PL accruals, returns reserves
  • Own working capital strategy and partner with the CEO on inventory financing, revolvers, and other non-equity capital
  • Run weekly cash forecasting and supplier payment planning across US and China entities

Global tax & compliance

  • Own global tax compliance across the US (federal, state, sales/Wayfair, 1099/W-2), China (corporate income tax, VAT, customs duties), and any other jurisdictions we sell into (EU VAT, UK VAT, Canada GST as applicable)
  • Manage transfer pricing between US and China entities; ensure intercompany agreements are in place and defensible
  • Own GAAP-compliant close, audit prep, and external accountant/tax-advisor relationships

China operations

  • Partner with the CEO and managers to optimize operations in China. 
  • Optimize freight, customs duties, and import/export structuring; manage supplier payment terms and FX exposure

Accounting, systems & team

  • Own monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Lead the ERP roadmap (likely NetSuite implementation or migration) and integrate it with Shopify, our 3PLs, payment processors, and marketing systems
  • Build the team — controller, FP&A, AP/AR, tax — and develop it as we scale

Leadership

  • Work hand in hand with the CEO; partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, and supply chain
  • Manage a team 
  • Set the standard for financial discipline across the company

What You Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of finance experience, with 1+ years leading a finance function (Head of Finance, VP Finance, Director of Finance, or equivalent)
  • Direct experience inside a high-growth DTC brand at $20M–$100M revenue / and or logistics (such as 3PL, warehousing etc.)
  • Hands-on fluency with DTC unit economics: contribution margin, blended marketing efficiency, cohort LTV/CAC, payback periods, inventory turn
  • Working knowledge of global tax compliance — US multi-state and at least one international jurisdiction; China experience strongly preferred
  • Cross-border operating experience, especially US ↔ China: transfer pricing, FX, customs, intercompany flows
  • GAAP-compliant close ownership and audit-ready financial reporting
  • Strong financial modeling — you can build the model, not just review someone else’s
  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA strongly preferred

Strongly preferred

  • Direct experience operating with a Chinese WFOE or equivalent entity
  • Mandarin language ability (even partial reading/speaking fluency is valuable)
  • Multi-channel DTC experience: Amazon, marketplaces, retail, wholesale
  • ERP implementation or migration experience
  • Prior experience inside a DTC brand that has been through a successful exit, recap, or major fundraise
